Why do my emails go to the promotions tab?

Because they carry the structural fingerprints of bulk marketing: a tracking pixel and links rewritten through your ESP's shared click-tracking domain. Gmail classifies by those markers plus sender reputation and engagement — not by your subject line. Charlie sends without pixels or rewritten links, DKIM-signed with your own domain, over a warmed, suppression-enforced path, so the email is structurally a letter and gets classified like one. Is there a Klaviyo alternative with cheaper pricing?

Charlie prices by contacts you actually email per month ($79 for 5,000, $149 for 15,000, $349 for 50,000), while Klaviyo bills for every stored profile — including suppressed and dormant ones — roughly $600–720/month at 40–50k profiles on their email plan (list prices as of July 2026). If you email a well-chosen slice of a bigger list, the difference is large. Honest caveat: Klaviyo has more integrations, more flow types, and mature analytics — the comparison lists what each does better.

Can Claude or ChatGPT send my email campaigns?

Yes — through Charlie's MCP server at https://charlieai.co/mcp. Add it as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT, authorize your Shopify workspace via OAuth, and your AI gets 13 tools: browse 448 templates, write and send campaigns, import contacts, activate flows, check deliverability. Guardrails (warmup caps, suppression, fair-use limits) are enforced server-side, and every write is audit-logged. Setup: connect your AI.

Does email marketing without tracking pixels actually work?

Yes — you lose open rates, and gain the metrics that matter. Opens were always a proxy (and an unreliable one since Apple Mail Privacy Protection started prefetching pixels in 2021). Charlie measures delivery, bounce, and complaint rates plus actual orders from your connected Shopify store. Removing the pixel and the link-rewriting also removes the bulk-marketing fingerprints spam filters look for — which is part of why the mail reaches the inbox at all.

Is my data stored in the EU?

Yes. Charlie is an Estonian company (Charlie OÜ, Tallinn) and the application and databases are hosted in the EU. There is no open or click tracking of your customers, which keeps you clear of the ePrivacy issues tracking pixels raise. Charlie's own European sending infrastructure comes online in August 2026; until then mail is routed through EU sending regions of established providers. Subprocessors are listed in the privacy policy.

How do I try Charlie without paying?

Two layers are free. Free forever, no account: browse and copy all 448 templates in the library, use the MCP read tools, and send test emails to your own inbox — so you can check inbox placement before spending anything. Then the 30-day free trial (via the Shopify app) gives full features at Growth-tier limits (15,000 contacts emailed/month) with no charge until it ends. Details: pricing.

What happens after the 30-day trial?

If you pick a plan (Starter $79, Growth $149, or Scale $349 per month, billed through your Shopify invoice), sending continues seamlessly. If you don't, sending pauses — API calls return 402 trial_expired — but nothing is deleted: contacts, flows, and history remain, and the free tier keeps working. Choose a plan later and you resume where you left off.

Do I need to learn a new dashboard?

No — your AI is the dashboard. You operate Charlie by talking to Claude or ChatGPT: "show my deliverability", "set up the abandoned-cart flow", "send the spring campaign to engaged contacts". There is deliberately no separate web app to log into. An interactive MCP App UI — scorecards, campaign tables, and flow toggles rendered inside your AI client — arrives with the July 28, 2026 MCP release.
